Education

I will stand in the gap for a public education system that teaches students to “learn to learn” so our children will have the foundation they need for success and the hope for prosperity that will motivate them.

As the education of our children has become more and more centralized, we have seen a shift from focus on the student to the focus on the institutions.  Just as the schools themselves rely more and more on the central government to exist, they teach the students that all problems have a government solution.  The goal of education quickly becomes a one size fits all mediocrity.

We must restore excellence in education to remain competitive in a global economy by placing the source of power and the accountability back at a community level and ensure school choice to provide the incentives for schools to strive for excellence rather than settle for mediocrity
