| Judeo-Christian Heritage of America, Rule of Law and America’s Sovereignty |
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! The words above constitute the last words of The Star Spangled Banner. The greatest of men, the closest of friends, our most trusted allies, the best programs, and the greatest of ideas will eventually let us down. Man centered and it will eventually wither and die, God centered and it will thrive. The leaders who founded this Country understood this Truth. That is why their revolution was more than just a change in power. It was the first and only revolution to completely shift the principle of government from focus on a leader or series of leaders to principled on “the rule of law”. The foundation stones for this “rule of law” are Judeo/Christian principles. I will fight for these principles. I will fight for the proper recognition of the rich providential history of this land. I will fight for the proper recognition of the Judeo/Christian heritage of America. America has removed God from schools, government, congress, the white house and attempting to eject Him from the public square. We may choose to go along with other nations and there principles or stand up for the principles set forth in 1776 and paid for with the blood and fortunes of so many and claim our sovereign right to govern this land based on those principles. |
| Size and Scope of Government |
I will fight for a fiscally responsible and debt-free America. I support conservation of taxpayer money, reduced spending and the elimination of earmarks. I commit to hold Congress fiscally accountable. This commitment includes reducing the government bureaucracy and restoring the freedom that unrestricted and unsustainable bureaucracy has stolen. The government of this great nation was created FOR the people—not the other way around. I do not believe that government and government programs are our savior. I will not vote for any legislation which contains spending not specifically relevant to that legislation. Legislation, which cannot be passed without earmarks being used to get the needed votes, needs to be refined until it can stand on its merits or voted down. We must balance the federal budget. I will support the separation of powers doctrine and the checks and balances of the Constitution. The lines between the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches have been blurred in the name of political agenda resulting in a greatly diminished effectiveness of “checks and balances”. |
| Health Care |
I will take the lead in healthcare reform by working to repeal and/or defund the atrocious and unsustainable bill just passed. I will take the lead in fighting skyrocketing healthcare costs by working to ensure transparency, and accountability. I will work for meaningful malpractice reform not through support of arbitrary caps and meaningless regulations but by requiring mandatory mediation early in the process and holding the client and the attorney accountable—loser pays, for unsubstantiated law suits. I will take the lead in providing healthcare to those who cannot afford insurance or who have been denied insurance by replacing the repealed bill with a reasonable and affordable bill which:
|
| Energy |
Cap and Trade is a train wreck of a bill. At 1400 plus pages it mirrors the Healthcare bill in pork and unfounded regulations. Focus on reducing CO-2 (the element each person exhales every time they breathe and that plants breathe in and convert to oxygen) for the sole purpose of abetting global warming will have severe economic consequences especially to the lower income groups (predictions for the cost of gasoline range from $5.00 to $7.00 per gallon). Energy policy should not be made on the premise that future global warming is caused by carbon dioxide produced by human activity. The science simply does not support this premise. Ethanol production should be curtailed as should wind. These methods use more energy to produce than they create. Wind power is a virtual cuisinart for birds. Domestic oil and natural gas production should be developed off-shore and in Alaska. The 1977 policy against recycling nuclear fuels should be rescinded. |
| War on Terror and National Defense |
The safety and security of the American people should remain the Federal government’s top priority. We still have a large number of people in this world who would like to see America and its allies stripped of its position of power and influence. This worldview is a real threat to the American way of life. I support a strong national defense and winning the war against radical Islamic terrorist at home and abroad. We must give our troops the resources they need to win and keep the battle off American soil so that the terrorist attacks we have seen in the last 18 months do not increase. We must secure our borders, and continue to update our intelligence laws to combat emerging threats in the post-9/11 world. |
| Israel |
Israel is vitally important to stability in the Middle East. I am committed to the biblical mandate that those who support Israel will be blessed. Israel is an ally to the United States unlike any other in the Middle East and very few in the world. Though we may disagree at times--like family, we can count on each other when the chips are down. Our common interests are based on the foundational principles of each country and we must stand together. |
| Immigration |
A look at the persons illegally entering this country shows a disproportionate number of persons with criminal history or terrorist connections. It is a matter of national security to keep out those with bad intentions. We must secure our borders. Amnesty protects these persons who broke the law when they entered. I do not support amnesty. In addition I will work to reform legal immigration policies to relieve many of the burdens on those trying to immigrate legally. America is a country made up of immigrants. Many of whom sacrificed greatly to get here. These immigrants support the principle of the “rule of law.” We cannot favor those who ignored the rule of law and came illegally over those who abided by and support the laws and principles of this country. |
|
Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion |
I have dedicated my legal career in support of FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE BASIC RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES OF ALL AMERICANS. I vehemently believe that Secretary of State Clinton was dangerously wrong when she stated that “Religious Expression was a private matter and should be confined to places of worship.” I believe our government is fast undermining the basic fundamental rights of Americans, and we must ACT NOW to turn the tide. |
| Jobs and Economy |
I will strengthen the job prospects for the people of the 5th District through a pro-growth economic agenda, encouraging investment and job creation which includes lower taxes on businesses and individuals along with limited government control of business and personal decisions. I will tackle our pressing economic challenges head on by working to facilitate private job training and apprentice type programs which allow displaced workers to learn the skills and develop the flexibility to re-employ quickly and productively. I will work to reduce the barriers faced by entrepreneurs and small businesses (the real and largest source of jobs) including reduction of taxes, streamlined regulatory requirements, access to capital, and incentives to private sector mentoring to small and start-up businesses. |
| Bailouts and Stimulus |
Very little stimulus money has reached Georgia and that which has reached Georgia has been ineffective. Government programs do not produce economic growth or permanent jobs-- Small and medium size businesses do. The stimulus harms these businesses through a higher tax burden necessary to fund the enormous debt created by the stimulus and increased regulation. Bailouts simply inhibit the market from working as it should. We have Bankruptcy Courts which have effectively handled companies and individuals in trouble for decades. Bailouts protect and reward those who have not managed wisely. They also raise barriers to others attempting to expand or enter the industry by creating barriers and an uneven playing field. |
| Family |
The AMERICAN FAMILY IS THE FOUNDATION STONE OF AMERICAN SOCIETY. The recently passed government entitlements and the resulting enormous tax burden will severely stifle the ability of our children to achieve any semblance of the “American dream.” The American family’s tax burden must be as low as possible. American history clearly demonstrates that lower tax rates naturally drive the economy’s growth. I support any effort to strengthen and support the family and marriage. |
| Education |
America, in part is becoming an unthinking and uneducated society. Every child deserves the opportunity to be properly educated. I support a scholarship system to enable SCHOOL CHOICE and I support smaller community schools with smaller classrooms that build educational excellence from within and require accountability from teachers, parents and students. |
| Sanctity of Life |
I fully support and have fought in court to defend the Sanctity, dignity and value of life from the moment of conception until death. |
| Poverty |
I support an effective and efficient “hands up” strategy instead of a demeaning and expensive “hand out” mentality to break the vicious cycle of poverty. I believe that Americans truly desire to break the multigenerational circle of government dependence. This dependence creates a culture void of hope for achieving the American dream or reaching one’s full potential. Rather than create programs that fulfill a political agenda, we must support innovative legislation and non-government programs that work and are a catalyst for a better life to those who to seek it. |
| Banking and the Federal Reserve |
The Federal Reserve has become politicized resulting in a monetary policy which has the United States on the verge of bankruptcy and/or stagflation such as we saw in the 1970’s. We currently have a debt to GDP ratio of 90%. Greece’s was 113%. The spending programs of the current administration are increasing the money supply at a record pace. Each dollar added without a similar increase in GDP results in more dollars buying the same goods---inflation. The debt that results burdens the economy through payment burdens which will dramatically increase as interest rates rise. We must implement sound monetary policy legislation and eliminate the national debt. |
| Property Rights |
I fully support the right of the individual to own and control his/her property as they see fit with the least amount of restriction possible. I am against the use of condemnation to promote private interests or for the purpose of increasing tax revenue. |
| Gun Rights |
I fully support the 2nd Amendment and its application to the States under the 14th Amendment. I am a gun owner, have a carry permit, hunt, and have seen through my law practice that restricting gun ownership results in only criminals having guns. |
